I had researched several higher priced rice cookers (over $100) before buying this one. I came across it at Sam's Club ($30) and thought I should give it a try. I was skeptical at first, because most rice cookers in this price range received horrible reviews. However I was pleasantly surprised the first time I used it. It took 15 minutes or so to cook 3 cups of rice and it came our perfect, just like you would get from a good Chinese restaurant. I've never been able to cook rice like that before. It's great. It's also very easy to clean.

I ordered this item through Sam's Club because they offer service contract after the warranty, otherwise I would have bought it here on Amazon.

Anyway, I got the rice cooker today and made 2 batches of rice to test it out. First, I made 2 cups of Jasmine Rice. It came out perfect and fast. The package states 15-20 minutes, the cooker got it done in about 10 minutes.

The real test is always, the Brown Rice. I made 4 cups of Brown Rice to yield 8 cups. I followed the instruction booklets recommended amounts. I believe Brown Rice takes about an hour normally to cook, the cooker got it done in the range of 20 - 30 minutes. Perfect rice, fluffy, flavorful. WOW!

I have a bunch of more rice to try. Wild, Red etc. I will update once I get those done. However I have a feeling they will all end up the same.

Cleanup is easy, and the only thing that I had a problem with is the term "Cup". Normally we think of a "cup" being the measure we use... Read more

My wife bought this product more than one month back and below are some of the details mentioned about her likes and dislikes:
Likes:
1]Cooks rice well --soft and fluffy. Depends on the individuals on how they want the rice to be cooked[For those who want the rice to be fluffy for one measure of rice add 3 cups of water.] Unplug immediately once it turns to warm and keep the rice pot outside else rice becomes bit harder.
2]since its a 10 -cup rice cooker, best for larger families(2+) or for those wherein guests keep coming.
3] Steamed vegetables comes out good
Dislikes:
1] Starch content form the rice which getting collected at the bottom if u dont turn the rice, using the spatula provided, almost at the end while cooking.
2] Cleaning though its nonstick- as u need to clean the vessel lid, steam vent, condensation collector and the inside lid of the rice cooker. Also some starch from rice at the top edges of the cooker. But still no isssues better... Read more

I bought this item to cook vegetables and fish. I have not been disappointed. Works great. Great flavor, easy cleanup, start it up and walk away. The steam mode does a good job. I have cooked rice once with it. The plastic tray cleans easier than an aluminum steamer tray used on the cheaper models. I have lost 40 lbs by cooking healthy meals with this steamer. The autmomatic mode is nice because I can start it , and come back in 30 mnutes and I am ready to eat. I now have 2 steamers, one for veggies(mostly green beans/brocoli), and the other for fish (cod/flounder/salmon). The fish is moist and flakey, mostly using frozen cod fillets. This larger size is recommended for non-rice cooking, because the space is needed. I highly recommend this item for convenient - healthy - meals.

I was a die-hard Zojirushi fan (and still am, really) but when I had to buy a new rice cooker, I just couldn't stand the thought of paying all that money, especially since I wanted a model that made a bunch of rice, so I decided to give this a try. I have to say, I have been very pleasantly surprised. Everyone in my family thinks the rice is really pretty good, I LOVE that I can steam with it - does a nice job with buns and dumplings (baozi are great in this). Easy to clean and pretty quick.

The saute and simmer feature is pretty neat - to make good flavored rice I actually sauteed some onions in butter right IN the rice cooker, then I put in my rice and chicken broth and spices, then set the rice cooker to "white rice" to cook.

If you are looking for a very versatile rice cooker, are thinking about trying a rice cooker for the first time, or want something that steams as well, this is definitely a good purchase.

I bought this rice cooker for my wife, she loves rice and wanted the rice to be just like we get all the restaurants that we eat at. We live in Tokyo Japan and the rice turns out just like the industrial restaurant rice cookers we normally get when we go out. It is pretty fast and rice comes out consistent. Great product.

We got this rice cooker from Costco for $30 and let me tell you it is the best $30 I have ever spent. In fact I would have paid a $100 or more for this cooker. We've only had it for 2 months and use it almost daily. It makes perfect rice every time. There are seperate functions for brown and white rice. However I find the brown rice still comes out pretty darn good in the white rice mode. A definate improvment from other cookers we had that would leave the brown rice hard and crunchy.
I read some reviews of this cooker burning rice if left in the warm mode too long. The longest we've left it to warm was 5hrs and we didn't have any problems. Maybe if we left it longer it might have burned, but who knows.

I had sticker shock when I first saw this product but fell in LOVE and use it at least once a week. I swore by my old rice cooker/steamer and even had a separate crock pot, but when my old rice cooker died-I decided to UPGRADE-and boy did I ever!

I toss all the ingredients in the night before, set the timer and when I wake up for work (which is way too early these days), ta-da like magic everything is ready. This makes mornings a lot easier and meals healthier-no more excuses to eat cafeteria or fast food mystery meat. My only little wish is if it if came with a lid that worked for the metal container inside so I quickly stick the left overs in the fridge.

So get over the sticker shock and fall in love with Aroma's best kept all in one secret-it pays for itself-and the 20 minutes I get to sleep in.

I like the way that it cooks rice. I haven't tried anything unusual or adventurous in it yet, but it does do a very good job at basic rice cooking. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have noticed that the rice begins to brown in the stay warm mode. I don't usually need that, so I just unplug mine when it gets done. I think that the drain away feature that it has for the condensation liquid basically draws out a lot of the residual moisture from the rice and causes it to brown much faster. I still look forward to trying out new things in it. The recipe book has a few good ideas. I also plan to try steaming my vegetables with the rice to see if that helps the rice to stay moist when it is done. I also got mine at Costco for less, so if you have a membership, I would recommend checking there first. I am satisfied with my purchase.
